Dental Care

In 2004 I lost my computer job in New York and moved here to the Poconos. I am working on switching careers by attending college, but I haven't been able to get the dental care I used to get because money has been tight. I want to go to the dentist and have whatever problems I have addressed, but I want to go somewhere that will attend my problems without browbeating me about not going to the dentist for so long. I did not decide to not to go to the dentist because I simply did not want to, or put it off or no reason I guess I am asking what dental office is friendly, which one has good "bedside manner" and which office doesn't try to push to sell you procedures you don't really need. Please help. Thank you in advance. Jason

No office should browbeat you. It may be upto you to try some out and see what is comfortable for you. You can usually tell a lot just from the phone call you make to the office. Ask them about their practice, costs, etc...if they give you the time on the phone and are understanding, it is a good sign they will be the same in person. If money is tight, you may want to go to Northampton Community College to the Dental Hygiene Department. The students need patients and the price is significantly reduced. Also, they might be able to refer you or have a dentist on sight that will do work. I know it is not a dental school, but they do need the mouths to clean. I tried to find the clinic number for you, but only came up with the main number. Maybe someone could direct you...610-861-5300 Clinic Address Northampton Community College Dental Clinic - PENN Hall 214 3835 Green Pond Road Bethlehem, PA 18020 Also, if you want to travel to Newark, there is UMDNJ, which does have Dental Hygienist students as well as Dental students looking for patients. University of Medicine and Dentistry Dental School Oral Health Pavilion 50 Twelfth Street Newark, New Jersey 07103 973-972-7370
