Oxygen - Help! - Monday, November 12, 2007 4:41 PM
Hi:

I do not see anything on this board related to my question, so I am not sure if this is the best place to post?  I will try anyway.

My mother is on liquid oxygen (I believe it is called Helios).  She has one *huge* stationary tank that is in her house, and she fills up a small, lightweight portable tank when she goes out of the house.  She would like to come up for a few days during Thanksgiving (she lives in Cherry Hill, NJ).  The problem is, her small portable tank only holds approximately 7 hours of oxygen.  I was told by her oxygen supplier that they cannot supply extra tanks, as the liquid oxygen evaporates if not used.  She obviously cannot bring the huge tank (that is in her home), as it must remain stationary in her house.  My mother's oxygen supplier does not have any local distributors in the Poconos, and therefore, we cannot fill her portable tank as needed.  I have called some local companies, but none of them will fill her tank - for some reason these companies do not provide such services?

I am hoping somebody out there can think of some sort of solution.  Is there anything that can be done?  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,
Clay

Heliox is Helium and Oxygen combination, she is on liquid oxygen,  I understand the HUGE part, those tanks are big.  As far as  where to fill them........hmmm, I don't know who the supplier is for Pocono Medical Center, perhaps they can help.  To be able to supply this they need a special permit, training and certification....it's VERY dangerous.  Did you ask her NJ company if they know of any companies here with whom they are affiliated with to refer you to?  They may be able to help.  Please let us know so I can put that down as a resource.  I will call the ambulance company and let you know if I find out anything.
