Stress test: Heat puts an extra load on our bodies

"Newsflash: It's hot! You can run from the heat, into air conditioning, but you can't hide. Your body is jolted when you step outdoors or worse, get into a parked car. "It is a stress for the human body anytime there is change in temperature. The circulatory system works overtime to cool your body down," said Dr. Dariusz Koscielniak, an internist in East Stroudsburg. Adjusting to sudden temperature change is better than staying in the heat because it gives the body a break. Even for those who must make multiple temperature changes in a day, like a delivery person moving back and forth from truck to air-conditioned office. "Heat for a long time is not the way to go," said Koscielniak." http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080610/NEWS/806100320
